How to restore the operational and archival databases dumps manually?

it is always possible to install (or to move to another server) the System for effective management bb workspace database manually. Follow two spets to do this. First, restore the operational and archival databases with Enterprise manager and socond, specify the path to operational and archival databases in he configuration utility bbconfig.exe.

To restore the operational SQL:

  1. Create a new database, for example, OPERATIVE (if it has not been already created).
  2. Write down or remember the path to the mdf (Data files) and ldf (Transaction log) files of this newly created database.
  3. Run "restore database ... from device" and click on the file (example "operative.dmp" which is in the system installaiton) on the Options tab to adjust the path to the mdf and ldf files recorded earlier.

Similar actions need to be done for each archive database. During "Restore data base" you need to choose a file, for example, archives2005.dmp. It is better to name the archive database in relation to the calendar year, for example ARCHIVE2005, ARCHIVE2006, ARCHIVE2007, etc.

After restoring all operational and archival database, run bbconfig.exe and specify the name of SQL Server, the login/password of the SQL-user (the user must have the rights of the owner) and the name of the database (using the button "Select from").
